The Viet Ecology Foundation
is dedicated to protecting the natural environment and improving the livelihoods of people across Southeast Asia.

Through rigorous environmental impact assessments of basin development plans, major infrastructure projects, and cross-border activities — combined with international cooperation — we promote sustainable development, renewable and clean energy, equitable sharing of natural resources, and effective control of transboundary pollution.
We focus on:

Nature is the heart of our planet, filling the world with beauty, peace, and life. An environment and nature gallery reminds us of the importance of protecting forests, rivers, mountains, and wildlife for future generations.

Protecting the environment is not only about saving nature — it is about protecting our own future. When we care for the Earth, we create a healthier, cleaner, and more beautiful world for everyone.
At least 50 million people in Vietnam will be exposed to the impacts of rising sea levels and more powerful tropical storms and typhoons, among other threats.
Vietnam’s energy program has been hampered by thermal power projects characterized by the highest pollution levels and average investment costs as compared to other cheap and clean sources. In this essay, Ngô Thế Vinh MD wrote down his concerns about the impacts the influx of coal powered electric plants wrought on the health of the people and

MEKONG
Sông Mekong
The drying of the Mekong is not only an environmental crisis but also a human tragedy. Millions of people in Southeast Asia depend on the river for food, transportation, and agriculture. If the river continues to shrink, the region could face severe water shortages and loss of biodiversity.
PM Hun Manet, with the support of his father, proposed the Funan Techo Canal as a Cambodian Mega Project and a legacy of The Hun’s Family. Geopolitically, this waterway would allow them to transport goods in two ways from Phnom Penh to the sea, without having to follow the Tien or Hau Rivers, and would free them from dependence on Vietnam.
The highly-anticipated and debated Funan Techo Canal project was launched on August 5th 2024 with the ambitious plan to connect Cambodian waterways over the length of 180 kilometres passing through Kandal, Takeo, Kampot, and Kep provinces at a cost expected to be approximately USD $1,7 billion.
Cambodia is pushing ahead with plans to link the nation’s capital, Phnom Penh, to its coast with a canal running 180 kilometers, or 110 miles. According to Cambodian leaders, 51% or more of the canal’s cost will be covered by Cambodian companies and the remainder by a Chinese build-operate-transfer (BOT) firm.
